It’s been a year and a half in the making, but Kevin and I are finally taking a trip back to France. Kevin was invited to go to beautiful Annecy, France for the European shoulder & elbow society meeting. We decided to turn a little business into pleasure and make it into a getaway!
I flew solo from Dallas to London, and from London to Geneva, then took an uber to Annecy to meet Kevin on the last day of his meeting. It sounds like a lot, but it was actually a really smooth, simple trip. Plus, the flight to London had some great new movie releases, and wine :). I arrived in Geneva around 1 PM, about 6 AM Dallas-time, a little tired, but super excited to start the vacay!! It was a beautiful drive into Annecy. Sunny and 98 degrees… they were having a horrible heatwave, but coming from hot, humid Dallas, I’m used to the heat 😉 (little did I know, our hotel had no air conditioning.. but thats besides the point).
Our hotel was a little tricky to find. It was right in the middle of Vieux Annecy, the historic part of town, but it was off of a small one-way street and a little alley led to the quaint spot.
As my uber pulled up, I saw a very excited hubby ready to greet me and welcome me to France! “Bonjour Mademoiselle!” Kevin exclaimed, he was feeling very proud of his french :). We dropped off the luggage to our sweet (extremely hot) little hotel room, and set off for a walk around the beautiful lake.
As we reminisced over the time we spent here, while we lived in France, Kevin started to work up a sweat and decided to cool off in the cold mountain lake.

After a little swim sesh.. we headed back to get ready for a dinner at La Cilboulette. Kevin had a few people recommend it to him, so we knew it would be good.. we didn’t know it was going to be amazing!!! We sat outside on the patio, with beautiful greenery and flowers all around us, and then we were served some of the most beautiful (in appearance and flavor) dishes!
We couldn’t get over how delicious each dish was… then out rolled the belle of the ball, the cheese cart!

After finishing dinner, we learned that the restaurant has been awarded a michelin star, which was not surprising… “C’est fantastic!”. We were absolutely blown away by the meal, and the price point was not outrageous! We highly recommend this delicious restaurant while visiting!

With happy tummies.. we strolled through the night-lit city, to take in a little more of it’s beauty, before heading back to the hotel.

Time to FaceTime kiddos, and try to sleep before heading to Nice tomorrow!!!

The Details
Where we went: Lake Annecy, Vieux Annecy
Where we ate: La Ciboulette
Where we slept: Hotel Central (very cute, clean, great location, very affordable! No air conditioning, but that’s pretty typical, plus its normally a very nice temperature at night in Annecy, they just had a crazy heat wave. I can definitely see why The Lonely planet recommends it!)
