My vision for my little guy’s bedroom, was to keep the decorating simple, happy, fun, and most importantly… budget friendly!! I wanted to keep the room mainly black and white with some pops of color in the artwork and accessories. As I started looking around online for ideas, I found an adorable cactus pillow, that I fell in love with. That sweet little pillow started my idea of a southwest-mountainy vibe.
DECALS: I thought it would be fun to have these cute little triangle wall decals, found on Etsy, covering one wall of the room. It ended up being a fun task that the girls got to help me with. It was so cute how some of the triangles would be right next to each other.. it just shows that they were right there with me, helping! They took so much of pride in it!
PRINTS: Each print in Kace’s nursery was found on Etsy. After the girls were in bed, I would stay up perusing Etsy, searching all different shops for the perfect choices for little man’s room! I’m not sure if the alpaca is a “southwestern” animal.. but he has a scarf and had a cute little cactus with him, so he won me over :). I found the Fox print from kiwiNberries. I loved the bright orange color with all of the black and white. The mountain print says “Shoot for the Stars”, which is a saying my hubby and I both hold dear.
FRAMES: The Frames were purchased from Hobby Lobby on a day that frames were 50% off (mom win)!!
CRIB: The crib, changing table, and glider were some of the only baby items we still had from the girls being little, so I wanted to put them to use. The crib was originally purchased from Target 7 years ago, but I linked a similar one (similar price too) here. I found his sweet little tassel dust ruffle at pottery barn kids on sale. A little trick I learned: sign up for their email list…. they have sales frequently ;-).
His sheet is from Golden Finch Co on Etsy. I cannot say enough wonderful things about them! Not only do they have the most adorable prints, but they care about their customers and their happiness with the product!!
I originally ordered that same pattern from Iviebaby … a pretty popular Etsy shop, but the quality was terrible! The print on the sheet was in a light-medium grey instead of black. I thought I had accidentally received it by mistake, but when I contacted the shop, the owner told me there was nothing she could do about it because she stated in her description that colors may not be as vibrant in person. I sent her a picture of the sheet being light-medium grey (nowhere near black), but she still refused to right the problem. I contacted Golden Finch Co. and the shop owner was so sweet and rush shipped the sheet with no extra charge, while also letting me know that the sheet would absolutely be black.. not grey! When it came in the mail, it was PERFECT. I have now washed it over 100 times and it is perfectly black and white! Also, the cotton is incredibly soft for my sweet little guy.
CHANGING TABLE: When I lived in Greenville, SC I found this dresser at a consignment shop for about $135. It started out as a dark brown color, I then sanded it and painted it white for my oldest’s baby nursery. Before my second baby girl was born, I painted a new coat of white on it. Then it was used as our bedroom dresser in our fellowship year in Pittsburgh. Finally, it was time to re-paint it again for baby Kace’s nursery!
Call me crazy, but the only color that seemed fitting was “cactus green”! Okay.. it might be a little brighter than a real life cactus, but it matched that little pillow perfectly! In order to match the paint, I took the pillow with me to Lowe’s and they helped me find the perfect shade of green. For the drawer pulls, I spray painted them Gold metallic, for a little pop!
As for the changing pad cover, I ordered it from ModFox on Etsy, in the minky fabric, because I thought it would be nice and soft for his little tushy! I chose trees to stick with my southwest mountain-ish feel.
The little black cube to the side of the changing pad, was purchased from Target. I like to keep diapers and a pack of wipes in it for easy changes during the night!
MOOSE: I fell in love with this whimsical faux Moose head, found on amazon.com, and BONUS… it’s only $30 and a super easy assembly!
SIDE TABLE: I liked the idea of having a small side table next to our glider. I always got sooo thirsty while nursing and thought it would be the perfect spot for a cup of water. This side table was a HomeGoods find for only $39.99. I linked some cute options here and here.
FRAMED ART: I found the frames at Hobby Lobby ( again, on a 50% off week), they ended up being about $5 a piece. The prints were found at 4 different etsy shops. Here are the links:
I remember the amazing feeling of finishing up Kace’s room and being ready for his arrival. I would often go into his room, smell his freshly washed clothes, and then just sit in the glider, rocking and glancing around. I was just so excited for him to arrive and enjoy his happy little space.
I hope y’all enjoyed a peek at Kace’s room! If you need any help finding anything from Kace’s room, let me know!
