The Blazer Edit

The Blazer Edit

What is the must-have item for spring?? A good blazer!!! Whether you live in colder, or warmer weather, you can rock this trend. One thing to give an outfit a chic feel is to create layers. A blazer is the perfect way to do it!

There are so many ways to rock a good blazer:

  1. Throw it over a band tee and some edgy leggings, or a pencil skirt. This creates a more pulled-together look that could take you to from a day at the office, to social engagement, or dinner out!
  2. Put it with jeans and a basic tee for an effortlessly chic vibe.
  3. Here I put it over a faux leather body suit and mini skirt, giving an edgy/sexy  outfit for a date night out. IMG_7402
  4. You can dress up your everyday t-shirt dress with throwing a colorful blazer on, adding a springy element.IMG_3231

Even if you live in a hotter climate.. throw one over your shoulders to add that finishing touch of chick to your outfit!

Frozen Margarita Recipe

Frozen Margarita Recipe

I don’t mean to brag, but I’m known far and wide (among my friends) for being THE best frozen drink maker in all the land. With cinco de mayo rapidly approaching, I figured that I would finally share how I make my frozen margaritas!

This is a no frills, NOT diet-friendly recipe, but it will please the taste buds, and have you feeling like dancing for sure!! 😜

Ingredients: IMG_2934

(makes about 4)

  • 1 can of frozen minute made Lime concentrate (most important ingredient)
  • Tequila ( I use Espolon silver)
  • A beer of choice (Honestly, I usually use Coors or Miller light).
  • Ice

Recipe:

Pour the entire can of frozen Limeade into the blender. Then fill that can about an inch from the top with Tequila. IMG_2935Pour that tequila right on in that blender. Fill blender with ice. Then pour beer over the mixture until about an inch below the ice. Now put the lid on and hit liquify on that blender. You want to blend for at least one minute in order to not get ice chunks into the mixture. Nobody wants to deal with ice chunks, am I right? We need that nice smooth consistency. Now pour it into your glass and enjoy 🙂

**If your margarita is a little to watery.. add a few more cubes of ice onto the top and re-blend. Each blender is a little different, so sometimes you have to finagle the ice/beer ratio 😂.

The Vintage Edit

The Vintage Edit

Something that really gets me excited, when it comes to fashion, is a good Vintage find! There is nothing like that feeling of finding a great piece from a previous generation, that can be effortlessly worked into your current wardrobe.

What started my love of vintage? My grandma Susan’s jewelry collection. I always remember her as being so fashionable, and her biggest passion was jewelry. I wear her bracelets all of the time, and they’ve become the most treasured pieces of my wardrobe. When I started noticing the joy it brought me to wear something from the past, that fits so perfectly in the present.. I started branching out to explore more vintage shops!

Where to begin?

I think some of you appreciate vintage, but just have no idea where to start. Here are my tips for how to shop vintage:

First, start small! If you are new to checking out vintage, maybe start with something small.. like a home accent, or maybe a fun bangle. Something that wont, break your bank account, but will add a fun pop to your home or wardrobe! Take it home, wear it, and see how great it makes you feel 🙂

Go into each shop with an open mind. You never know what treasure you might find in there. If you absolutely love something, odds are, you will wear it with ease. Don’t be scared off my a small hole, or maybe the length of something. You can always take to a seamstress to have something hemmed or repaired.

Don’t get woo’d by a label. Just because it’s designer, doesn’t mean it will be right for your style. It’s happened to me before. I left a vintage shop in France with some Chanel pumps, really just because they were ridiculously affordable, and well… they were Chanel. However, I rarely wear them because the short quilted heel makes me feel like a 1950’s typewriter or something -lol! I do bust them out occasionally, but I never quite feel like myself when I wear them. You can find plenty of amazing things, that are super cool, without them being a designer you know.

Last, get what you love! If there is a necklace you can’t get over, and the price is right… get it!! You will kick yourself if you walk away from a great vintage find and then you can’t find it again.

How to Style Vintage:

A great rule of thumb is to pair a little old with a little new! Sounds easy enough right? Pair a band tee with a new stylish blazer, and maybe one of your vintage necklace finds.STU05241

Or bust out that brand new romper, but throw on a vintage ring to give your outfit some depth. Maybe you found a cool Bomber jacket. Throw it on with your favorite pair of jeans, a tee and sneakers, or maybe put it on with a trendy skirt and top, for a little edge.

The possibilities with vintage styling are endless. Have a little fun with it!

The Paloma

The Paloma

It’s the freakin’ weekend (although it may just feel like a Tuesday… #quarantinelife), so you know what that means… time for a quarantini!!! This weeks cocktail of choice : The Paloma.

IMG_2616

I saw a friend of mine enjoying one of these on Instagram last week, and I’ve been dying for one ever since! I’ve mentioned before that I love a tart drink, and nothing says tart like fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice. Fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice is like a little piece of heaven with its soury- sweetness, and makes the perfect cocktail for a warm Quarantine evening ;-).

Ingredients:

Kosher Salt

Tequila (I use Espolon).

1/4 cup of fresh squeezed grapefruit juice

1 tablespoon of fresh lime juice  (about 1/2 of a lime)

Topo Chico (or club soda)

Recipe:

First pour a little salt on a plate. Then add a little lime juice on the rim of your glass, and dip the rim of the glass in the salt.  Pour desired amount of tequila in glass. Add 1/4 cup grapefruit juice, juice from half of a lime, then fill the cup with ice. Now top off with Topo chico, give it a little stirry stir.. and you are ready to enjoy!!

Cheers!!!
